Greetings,

So you've found your way to our little corner of Xen'drik. Welcome to you!

A little about The Blackmoor Defenders...

The Blackmoor Defenders was formed in 2009 on Ghallanda by Thaco and a few other like minded players. Thaco originally came from Lhazzar back when DDO first came out in 2006, but left the game for a brief break. Upon returning, the guild was reformed with new and vetran players. The family has been slowly and steadily growing since that day.

On weekdays we usually have around 6-10 people on at any time and on the weekends it can be more than 10, as many as 20, at any given time. When we have those numbers on, we usually have multiple groups running.

We are a mature guild. Most guilds say that, but we have members from about 24+ yrs old to, well, who have kids in College.  Smiley  We understand when life happens and you either have to go AFK in the middle of a quest or AFK from the game due to 'life' happening. We are a laid back group of players who have fun with all aspects of DDO.

Recruiting

We are open for general recruitment at all times for new players and veterans.

With that said... we don't spam forums, general chat or any of that nonsense in game. Typically, when we are grouping up and have open space for new players... we keep track of who we are on or have played with, and either that other player will bring up joining our guild. Or, we may bring it up and ask if they are looking to join a family.

If they are already in a guild, we don't bring up the subject unless asked by the other player. Its disrespectful to 'steal' players from guilds and we don't work that way.

If you are trying to reach us to do some adventuring with us, feel free to message us in game with your character name and timezone you are in. There is usually somebody on as we are in Canada and mostly scattered across the United States (East Coast, Midwest, and Pacific time zones.)

Rules

Again, we are a pretty easy going guild and have basic common sense requirements from everyone in the family....

  • Respect each other. Everyone has bad days, just don't take it out on members.
  • Games are supposed to be fun. We play to have fun. Yeah, at times we may get a party wipe or a run of bad luck...but this is just a game. Keep that in mind. Smiley
  • Guild Chat is seen by all. While most of us are adults with families, some of us have our children playing with us. So be aware of what you are typing.

Questing

  • We do quests to learn them.
  • We do quests slow and explore everything.
  • We also do quests quickly, when hunting for a specific item. And repeat them several times, just to find that 1 item...
  • We do slayer runs for those needing slayers, explorers, rares and loot.
  • We do favor runs (xp optional).
  • We do loot runs to help get items for our family members, or $$$ for the Guild coffers.

Generally speaking, we do a lot with each other to help each other advance in the game and have fun doing it.

Final Words

We strive to help each other whenever possible, but we don't enforce 'play with us'. If you rather jump in a different quest or solo slayers... that is cool. Just know we will always make room for members in groups, or will regroup as soon as possible.

Officers are our most trusted and experienced members of the Guild. They are here to help you whenever they can, but just like everyone else they are here to play and have fun.

We look forward to seeing you in game.

A few words on this:

Quests:
If all members of the party know the quest well, we will in all likliehood burn through it quite fast. If any member is unfamiliar with said quest, we very often slow it down to explain/instruct so that they too will know it well. On the whole, as a guild, there is a very strong movement towards sharing knowledge with a large number of players able to skillfully and patiently lead.

There is also a strong movement towards completing quests in order to acheive the requisites for raids. Very often our guild has the numbers to form up a raiding party and, not wanting to leave any member unwantedly solo, we try to make raids happen.

Creating a raiding party within level parameters can be difficult. This is why a large number of our guild have multiple characters of varying levels. Personally, I have characters of 4th, 5th, 11th, 16th, 18th and 20th levels. We make the raid magic happen.

Age:
We have a fairly "mature" age range in the guild, but lets face it, we're all big kids when you get to the heart of it. When/if you join Blackmoor you will be entering into a group of individuals who frown on drama, strive to be inclusive and really just want to have a good time.

Leadership:
Our guild leader and officers are not in any sense tyranical. We have a very mellow approach to the game and treat others as we would expect to be treated.
